The Egret with Two Fish

with one comment

This photo reminds of a story told in the early millenium show, Farscape, regarding a dog with two bones. Fortunately for the egret in this picture, one fish was not a reflection, and did not have to let go of the real one in order to chase the illusion.

The Swimming Cormorant

with one comment

I think I’m starting to develop a fixation for cormorants similar to the one I have for egrets. Not hard, after seeing one as graceful as this.

Every time I see the cygnet doing this, I cringe a little at the thought of it being more flexible than I.

I hate rainy, windy days, and by the look on the face of this egret, so does he!

The Crab at the End of the String

with one comment

During the summer, a popular pastime down at the duck pond is crabbing. Most recreational crabbers there tie off long pieces of string to a chicken or turkey neck and toss it into the water, hoping the crabs will bite.

Of course, things aren’t as simple as all that. There are rules and regulations to consider when crabbing — and I have seen the Department of Environmental Conservation out there enforcing the rules. (For what is okay and what isn’t, visit their site.)
