The Cygnets of Brook Road

Of course, they don’t much look like this now (they’ve grown up so much so quickly!).

The Fiddlers in the Tide

On a recent kayaking expedition (read: rented a two person kayak from the place at the marina and paddled around in the harbor), we chanced to see hundreds of fiddler crabs, scuttling towards the tide-line. A seagull was nearby, warily eying us as he scoped out his dinner.

The Young Willets

These little guys were out with their Momma, playing in the reeds and the little water pools near the road. You can tell these are young by the softer down on their heads and necks. I do not think they could fly — Momma Willet took off a few times to reconnoiter while they ran back off into the reeds.

In the News: The Humpback off Dune
Color me jealous — a day before I went whale watching with CRESLI off of Montauk (photos coming soon, I swear), two men spot a humpback whale a quarter mile off Dune Road in Westhampton Beach!

The Turtle on the Road (Part II)
Two posts today, because I’m off and have a little time, and because it’s been nothing but birds for a while.
