Six Cygnets, Swimming

with one comment

Every year in early June, swans can be found introducing their babies to the world over at the duck pond. This particular year, they started out with seven cygnets (one of which I never saw, but was told about by another duck pond regular), which then became six (two of which had to be rescued from a storm drain, but it seems every June I’m saving something out of there so that’s not unusual).

For a while, they make this cute little chirping sound (despite the name mute swan), and their feathers stay gray until they’re the size of their parents.
