The Finch on the Branch

Backyard birding can be a fun opportunity to scope out birds close to home. I mostly indulge in the seasons when egrets cannot be found in the area, and I was surprised to find a healthy population of finches surviving the winter around our feeders.

Most of the time I manage to scare them away before I can even get close enough to take a picture, but this time I sat myself behind a skinny little tree long before this finch even appeared. And waited. And waited. And waited. And was rewarded!
